Unlike the pacifist and genocide run, it doesn’t have a unique or special end. This run can lead to any of the preprogrammed neutral endings. You can achieve this run when you do a bit of killing and sparing the lives of monsters. Therefore, at the end of this run, you also achieve a unique ending. Once you have completed the genocide run, it is difficult to get the game to forget it even after a True reset. However, in this run, it is not necessary to complete all the puzzles. You’ll also have to search every possible area to kill anyone you encounter. In the genocide run, you have to kill every monster you come across. The genocide run is the opposite of the pacifist run. Finishing the game like this on the first attempt also makes it easier to attempt other endings. You complete the pacifist run when you play the game without killing any monster.

The pacifist run leads to the pacifist ending, which many believe is the game’s actual ending. These choices will end up determining the ending you will get. In duelling these monsters, you will have the choice to kill or spare them. When in the Underground, your character will have to go up against monsters. When you have completed the game in either pacifist or genocide mode, Flowey greets you and lets you know you can reset everything, and you see only the True reset option. When you do this, the game replaces the normal reset with a True reset. But to unlock this option, one has to complete a pacifist or genocide run (More on this further in the article). So, you might be wondering if it is possible to True reset within the game.

I can imagine that Toby Fox somehow comes back to this for the full release of deltarune. You think this might affect playing deltarune in any way? Haven't played or read up on that game at all, but after Undertale, it's pretty high up on my wish list. I also read up somewhere, that it permanently checks in your steam cloud saves, if you did a genocide run or not. Just like the other endings, I imagine most of the pleasure/impact comes from playing and deciding yourself. Watching a let's play is also an option, but feels like cheap way out. Isn't it kind of the point to not even try it? I'm torn between wanting to see more content of the game, while not wanting to go ahead and kill these monsters. I enjoyed that game a lot, but now I'm considering if I should do a genocide run. Just finished Undertale, first the neutral ending, then immediately after the pacifist ending. Please be careful with spoilers considering the Genocide Run. Spoilers on the other two endings expected.
